Save the Rain is a non profit organization committed to ending the water crisis through rain water harvesting. We achieve our goal by teaching people living in water deprived areas to catch, store, clean and use the rain as a sustainable water supply.
We educate people to farm the water through roof water collection, surface water collection, ground water recharge, soil conservation, bio-remediation and passive irrigation practices. We chose rain catchment because when 1 inch of rain falls on a 1000 square foot surface, you can collect 600 gallons of water.
Because we believe in sustainability not dependency, we build all of our systems from local materials with the local work force. When we leave, not only do participating communities know how to build, maintain and fix their systems, they also know how to teach this simple technology to others.
We all should have the basic resources needed to sustain life. But today, there are more than 4 billion people who are desperately trying to survive without it.The water crisis claims 14 000 lives each day. Every 15 seconds a mother buries her child because of it.
The solution is falling from the sky. All we need is your help to catch it. We are committed to restoring that right to as many people as possible - even if it means one village at a time. Living without clean water is a death sentence but we believe that if you save a raindrop, you can save a life!
